Progress Pride Flag Reversed R Vexillology Naturally, any time there’s a new flag run up the pole, it engenders buzz, discussion and critique. over the course of its history (and to the delight of vexillologists), the lgbtq community has created a spate of them—several dozen, in fact. I don't think that the pride flag is very functional nowadays. and i have never understood the apparent necessity for a new one. instead of acting under symbols and representations, we should acknowledge people for who they are. Although baker's original rainbow flag had eight colors, from 1979 to the present day the most common variant consists of six stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. the flag is typically displayed horizontally, with the red stripe on top, as it would be in a natural rainbow. So i'm not really a fan of the visuals of the philly progress pride flag due to how crowded it's getting and how some of the colors (primarily the part representing skin tones and the shade of browns used) conflict. so i decided to take a spin at my own version of the flag instead. The sideways chevron of the progress pride flag, along with representing the progress itself makes the colours clash a lot less than here, and the fact that the lines don't line up makes it even worse.
